Indian Rock

I recently purchased this book: Northern California Bouldering

Morgan and I decided to head over to Indian Rock in Berkeley for our inaugural climb with our new climbing pad and book!

Our first climb: Embryonic Journey V1 ***
You start out on the slab. Then we got a little confused. Originally, I thought it was supposed to go up the slab to the left, but it turns out you’re supposed to go straight through the hole in the rocks.
…and come out through a tiny crack! I was nervous I would get stuck, but I just got a little dirty.

Next climb: Watercourse V1 ****
I don’t have any pictures of this one. All I can say is that the holds seemed small for a V1 and all the foot holds were pretty slippery. Between the 3 of us, we only got about halfway up the wall. It’s pretty high though. I don’t think I would feel comfortable topping out on this one

Another climb: Transportation Crack VB ****
No pictures of this one either, but the holds are really good. Only thing is that it also tops out and it’s really high. I felt nervous finishing this one even though I felt confident about my ability to climb it. It’s a long way down!

Next boulder: The Ape V1 **
This one was right on the sidewalk. It is a sit start. This was my favorite climb of the day. It took us forever to figure out how to do and it felt awesome when I finally made it to the top. The funny thing is that the boulder is only maybe 4 feet high, but it takes so much effort to get to the top.
