Copper Slug Tape Experiment

I have been having problems in the garden with slugs eating my seedlings. They destroyed my green beans, broccoli, and pepper plants. I read online that you could put copper tape around the planter boxes and the slugs would not want to cross it. After reading some reviews on Amazon (glowing about how their plants were safe from slugs), I bought a roll of copper tape.

Before I went crazy putting the tape onto the beds, I decided to test it first. I found a slug under one of my planters and made a tape cage. Not 5 min went by before the slug crawled right over the tape! So, I thought, “maybe the tape barrier was not thick enough.” After adding more tape- I got the same results! Slug did not seem to mind the tape at all. So I am left with the conclusion that copper tape DOES NOT WORK.

I think I will try beer traps and maybe some plastic bottle collars for my 2015 seedlings.
